Trapcode - Host Support Notes

The Trapcode plug-ins were developed for use in Adobe After Effects. Many other hosts claim to support Adobe After Effects plug-ins, but in fact most of them do not support all the features required by the Trapcode plug-ins. We have made an effort together with Discreet to make three of the plug-ins work with almost full features in Combustion 3 (read below). Adobe Premiere Pro runs Shine and Starglow with a few problems (read below).

All other hosts remain unsupported by Trapcode. We do simply not have the resources to check everything and see that it works. And we lack knowledge for giving the kind of high quality tech-support that people expect from Trapcode. If you feel compelled to use the software in another host, please evaluate the demos. If they work to your satisfaction, then so will the full versions and you are most welcome to purchase them. But we will not be able to help you in the same way we could if you use After Effects. We do not know how to use every host application in the world. Of course we will do everything we can to help.

With Liberty Design Tools' Synapse, you can use Shine & Starglow with Quantel.

Discreet Combustion 3 Windows Support Notes
(Combustion 3 Mac OSX version is under investigation)

The Trapcode plug-ins that work in Discreet Combustion 3 Windows are:
Trapcode Shine 1.0.6
Trapcode Starglow 1.0.3
Trapcode 3D Stroke 2.0.3

General

• Transfer Modes. When using the plug-ins in C3 only a subset of the Transfer Modes are available.
• In AE, the plug-ins can disable (grey out) unused parameters to help the user. This does not work in C3. For example, when Transfer Mode is set to "None" the "Source Opacity" slider should be disabled because it has no effect on rendering. In C3 you can still move the slider even though it has no effect.

• The plug-in does not use regular masks like it does in AE, instead the 3D Stroke plug-in enables a Tool that you can use to paint the shape. It is found in the Toolbar when the 3D Stroke plug-in is active. It looks like the "Polygon/Bezier Mask" tool.
• There is no support for importing Adobe Illustrator files into 3D Stroke in C3. There is no way to copy shapes between the Paint/Mask operators and 3D Stroke.
• The "Comp Camera" option is not available. You have to use the camera that is inside the plug-in.

Adobe Premier Pro 1.0 Support Notes

The Trapcode plug-ins that work in Premiere Pro 1.0 are:
Trapcode Shine 1.0.6
Trapcode Starglow 1.0.3

The only observed problem is that the dynamic enabling and disabling of parameters appears buggy. For example, when Transfer Mode is set to "None" the "Source Opacity" slider should be disabled because it has no effect on rendering. In Premiere Pro you can still move the slider sometimes even though it has no effect.
