Ring of Fire

This project uses a pre-comp called "ring" which contains a solid with Render>Circle applied to it. The pre-comp was brought into the main comp and the 3D layer was switched on.

The ring was then chosen as a Layer Emitter so that it emits particles from the circle. The particles are orange spheres added together to form the fire-like colorscale. The Physics>Air>Turbulence Field with some upward wind was used to create the flame-like motion and shapes.

One thing to keep in mind when playing with this project is that there is a fine-tuned relationship between the size of the pre-comp (in pixels), the Emitter>Particles/sec parameter and the Particle>Size parameter. If the pre-comp is made bigger, the Particles/sec parameter needs to be increased, otherwise a too sparse look will be the result. Furthermore, if the scale of the ring is changed (this does not affect the size of the comp in pixels, just how big it appears in the main comp), the Particle>Size parameter may need adjustment.
